Administrative Director:

Position Description: Shepherd Valley Waldorf School, an independent K-8 educational nonprofit in Niwot, Colorado, invites applications for an Administrative Director. The Administrative Director reports to the Board of Trustees. The Administrative Director provides oversight to the school as a whole, and bears responsibility for the leadership, operations, and management of the school. The Administrative Director also works with assigned pedagogical leaders to carry out the school’s educational programs, and with the administrative staff to support these programs.

Grades Teacher: First Grade for 2014/15:
Shepherd Valley Waldorf School located in Niwot, Colorado, offers a unique educational experience for children from pre-K to 8th grade that integrates art, academics and practical skill development along with outdoor activities on a spacious 38 acre campus. Our unique farm setting provides a "living laboratory" for a broad range of hands-on math, science, geography and history projects.

We are seeking a 1st grade teacher for the 2014-15 school year who track with their students through eight grade. If you have proven success teaching in grades one through eight and enjoy developing and implementing innovative curriculum, and have an interest in outdoor learning experiences then we should talk.

Critical Experience

Must have demonstrated ability to teach and guide children based on their developmental capabilities. Your expertise in developing inspiring curriculum in one or more core subject areas such as math, science, literature or history is essential. Proven success collaborating with faculty and working with parents is necessary. Hands-on experience assessing student academic and social development, and identifying remedial activities is critical.

Creates and maintains a nurturing class community. Develops and delivers main subject lessons following a Waldorf Curriculum. Works with colleagues on a numerous educational and developmental initiatives. Conducts monthly parent meetings. Assesses, in a timely manner, student performance and provides activities that meet children's developmental needs. Coordinates educational, outdoor and movement experiences with subject teachers. Writes descriptive year end evaluations for students. Participates in curricula festivals and events.

Must have a minimum of two years of work experience as a lead classroom teacher for students in grades 1 through 8. Bachelor's Degree in History, Language Arts, Science, Math or a related field is required. Waldorf teacher training is required. Expertise in music, singing, or gardening is a plus. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. All employees are required to pass a background check. Shepherd Valley Waldorf School is an EEO employer.
