Annual Campaign FAQ

What is the Annual Campaign?

Our Annual Campaign, Creating Opportunity, is the means by which we raise funds to help bridge the gap between operating income and operating expenses.

Doesn’t tuition cover all of the annual operating expenses?

No. Income from tuition and fees at Shepherd Valley Waldorf School covers 87% of our annual expenses. The remaining 13% must be made up from other sources.

Why not raise tuition?

One of our goals is to maintain an economically diverse community. Annual giving makes it possible for us to keep tuition increases as low as possible and helps us to provide Tuition Assistance. Also the Annual Campaign creates opportunities for donors to receive tax incentives that tuition does not offer.

Why should I give to the Creating Opportunity Campaign?

Every gift goes toward helping Shepherd Valley meet its budgetary goals for the year. Your gift is vital in maintaining a balanced budget and to strengthening our program and continuing to increase salaries and benefits for our faculty and staff.

How are funds from the Annual Campaign used?

Gifts are used to support the general operating budget, which provides for the day-to-day operations of the school. The operating budget covers salaries, benefits and programs (77%), general operations (4%) and occupancy (19%).

How much should I give to the Creating Opportunity campaign?

This year our goal is $97,500 or approximately $680 per student. We encourage you to carefully consider the amount of your gift and we hope that it express the heart connection that you feel to Shepherd Valley. Thank you for your commitment to our community!

How can I give to the Annual Campaign?

Gifts can be made as a one-time gift or as a pledge, to be paid in full by June 30, 2010. We accept checks, cash or credit card (Visa or Mastercard).
